Things to do in Milton Keynes

Whether you’re in Milton Keynes for work, social or holiday purposes – The Railway Inn has awesome attractions nearby for you to enjoy in your leisure time…

Bletchley Park – The site of the famous World War II codebreakers is just two stops (9 minutes) by train from the local train station in Wolverton.

Golf – Abbey Hill is an excellent golf facility located just 3 miles from the house, with 18 holes and a 9 hole short course. Abbey Hill is also home to Mr Mulligans Pirate Golf – a family friendly fun-filled 18 hole crazy golf course –  just watch out for the crocodile!

For the more serious golfer with official handicaps – Woburn Golf Club has 54 holes set in woodland located just 10 miles away, and has staged the British Masters and the Women’s British Open. The Railway Inn is proud to have hosted professional golfers (and their teams) while they compete in these prestigious tournaments!

Gullivers Land is a theme park perfectly suited for primary age children – located just 5 miles away.  It features rollercoasters, a log flume and water slides, animatronic dinosaurs (think Jurassic Park!), a NERF zone, a JCB zone, and an indoor water playground.   There are hardly any queues, and the little ones love it.  Book in advance for discounted entry.

MK Theatre is a state-of-the-art theatre programming a variety of West End productions and a Christmas pantomime.   The Railway Inn is proud to have hosted many cast members for various shows at the MK Theatre.

The Formula 1 British GP is held annually at nearby Silverstone (13 miles away). It takes place in early July – and is by far the largest local event in the calendar, attracting some 350,000 visitors across one weekend.

Expect to pay a premium price for staying anywhere nearby on this weekend – as there simply isn’t enough accommodation in the vicinity for such a large influx of people.

The newly added Silverstone Experience is a brand new £20million attraction that opened in 2019, offering an all year round, fully immersive experience discovering the history of British Motor Racing.

Stadium:MK is a 30,000-seater football stadium, the home of the MK Dons.

The Marshall Arena is a 5000 capacity event space situated within the stadium and hosts live music gigs from acts such as Chase and Status and Black Eyed Peas.

Xscape (Milton Keynes Central) features Snozone – a 170m long real-snow ski slope, a 16-screen cinema, a climbing wall, and the indoor skydiving experience iFLY.

Xscape is situated just across the road from Intu, the central shopping district, which is home to nearly 50 of the most famous high street and designer shopping brands.

Willen Lake is a popular spot for walking and watersport activities such as wakeboarding, boat hire, sailing and windsurfing

A recent addition has been the socially distanced drive-in cinema experience

Woburn Sands Safari Park is just 20 minutes away by car and is home to over 1000 wild animals including Elephants, Lions, Buffalo, Rhinos, Zebras, Giraffes, Bears and Monkeys.  The animals roam freely whilst visitors drive through their enclosures – certainly not for the faint-hearted!

This is just a sample of what Milton Keynes has to offer.
